From the Bride:
Ok, so I called Nick up, and he said I could look through them. I couldn't wait! Well, I love all 1072 of them actually, but seriously amazing job!
When Nick and I were planning our wedding, we felt that it was very important that our wedding reflected ourselves. It was our wedding; we should do what we want! With this open-minded perspective, we made sure the wedding reflected us, as individuals, and allowed our guests to see the love we share for each other. For my entire life, my family has vacationed in the Outer Banks, with Nick joining us for the past several years. While researching for a vacation, Nick and I stumbled across some info on getting married on the Outer Banks. I made a wistful comment about how cool it would be to actually get married on the Outer Banks. Nick responded, “Well, why not?” It was such a simple statement, but it was something that never occurred to me. At least not in a way that seemed like it could really happen. But as he said, “Why not?” So as we thought about it more, and after the initial shock of having our wedding 500 miles away from home faded, it seemed to really fit us!
We wanted to embrace the ocean and beach atmosphere while still keeping an air of elegance. I chose a very simple dress that had no establishments and we all went barefoot on the beach. I chose not to have a veil, and our wedding flowers were all freshly cut lavender bundles that smelled wonderful! Nick and I both love seahorses, so we used a seahorse symbol in various components of our wedding day, from a wax seal on the invitations to Nick's boutonniere. Since we both love cheese, and neither of us are big fan's of cake, we decided to stack different sized wheels of our favorite cheese in lieu of a traditional cake. One of my favorite pieces of jewelry is a bracelet Nick got me while we were traveling to to Savannah, Georgia several years ago. It is a silver fork that is bent to wrap around my wrist. We modified this concept, and after gathering enough antique silver-plated cutlery, we hand bent each piece to use to hold the name cards. I also found a skilled Etsy seller who fashioned two forks into a dancing couple that we used as our cake topper.
I have always had a passion for photography, so picking our photographer was our most important vendor decision. We researched many different wedding photographers and considered how they captured motion, emotion and color in their images. When we found Julie and saw her amazing images, our decision was nearly made up before we even met! Once we finally did meet, we knew we had have her shoot our wedding! And we loved working with Julie! Although our wedding is over now, we have Julie's beautiful photos left over to remind us of our incredible day. And we wouldn't have it any other way!
