Julie Dreelin's Beach Productions staff photographer Lauren Cowart photographed this wedding at the Village of Nags Head Golf Links in Nags Head, NC. Julie Dreelin talked with the bride and groom on planning the evening so that they could hit the sunset right on. At the last minute they decided to change around the first dance in order for Lauren to take advantage of an early glow to the sunset. Always talk with your photographer on planning around the sunset in a beach wedding. The photos afterwards are priceless!

Jessica and Ben- a do it yourself fashionista couple

This wedding took place in Duck, NC at one of our favorite wedding houses, the Saltaire House - although it is not on the ocean, the house is located perfectly between the ocean and the sound so that you can get both types of shots. At this wedding, the photographer, Julie Dreelin, took the bride and groom across the street from the house for some beautiful sunset shots before coming back to party.

Jessica knows style! Even during her toast her maid of honor said she thought Jennifer would marry a fashion model from tv. She chose Ben, a fashionable surfer instead, and what a couple they make! Jennifer went for the new style of "net" for her veil and accessorized her own boquet with a beaded belt she found- we loved it! This bride and groom belong in a fashion mag, wouldn't you say?

Evelyn and Robert’s Whalehead/Currituck Club Wedding Oct 2nd

This out of town bride took "do it yourself" to the extreme. She made her own invitations, and all paper products as well as decorated her entire reception in just a matter of a couple of hours. The lighting looked gorgeous(see bottom photo).

Engagement Shoots

Sometimes dressing up works perfect on an engagement shoot. Your photographer needs to have this shoot to get to know you. The best photographers do the engaement shoot for free for this purpose. This bride also said she wanted documentary only shots and loved sepia and black and white. Since the photographer knew this, she portrayed this look in her photos. "It's all about the photos" Daniel touted to me when I first arrived at this wedding. Meghan had a smaller budget, went small in areas that weren't as meaningful and went big in places that were, like decorations by Rene Landry Style and Photography and photography by Julie Dreelin's Beach Productions. We love the background for the ceremony she put up that doubled as a back to a mini "photo" booth with chalk and board that they played with all night taking funny photos - Meghan's own idea of bringing boots and ballons to the beach made the entire beach session turn out like a fashion shoot!

Do-It-Yourself Style in Blue

We've always found that the color palette of blue is a tough one. Danielle, our feature do-it-yourself bride of the summer(Aug 2009 Wedding) did a fantastic job of finding blue in things besides flowers or candles. We love the parasol idea!
