Rebecca and Zack choose to married on New Years Eve at sunset and have their party last through the evening. From the groom and groomsmen wearing converse sneakers to the trash the dress special gift Rebecca made for her future husband, this rocker couple did not go by the books - and their event turned out incredible! Their photographer Julie Dreelin suggested that they do most of their photographs beforehand, so they had a special meeting, then the bridal party came out to entertain them and photographer Julie Dreelin with more group and candid photographs while sipping on champagne. Thank goodness they did because they got off to a late start and the sun set right as they were saying their vows. This breathtaking wedding venue Abilena Mansion right on the sound in New Bern, NC has attracted quite a response from traveling brides. This bride was from hours south but chose this location because it is centrally located and right on the sound.

There are many requests for elopement weddings. Elopements are one of the most common weddings. Most vendors have special small packages for this type of wedding. I don't blame them. High Contrast photos in Color and Black and White makes the smallest captured moments memorable. A son and father that haven't talked for years putting their arms around each other for a brief shot from a family member, girlfriends helping the bride out, a moment spent together at the end of the wedding and the most simple of getting ready shots become deeper moments when given this effect. Top Knot’s Cake

This cake by Just Desserts located on the Outer Banks won Best of from the Knot. Yes, we did get a chance to taste the scrumptious delight, and yes, it does taste as good as it looks. In the 10 years we have been working with Melinda at Just Desserts we have only seen complete perfection, every-single-time.

Trashing your Wedding Dress

Rebecca's fiance was not into the engagement pics so she decided to use her beach visit as a sexy trash the dress shoot. We suggested doing what she did and go to the local shop "Baree Station" for this $20 dress that she used. It worked perfectly and didn't break the bank. The gaudy necklace and bracelet she wore worked perfect to set the scene for the photos.

October 23rd, 2009 - Susie and Joe

We love this house! It is in the 4X4 area of the island which means no roads, you drive on the sand to go to this location. There is always someone who gets stuck in the sand which adds to the excitement, so make sure to tell your guests! It's a great location for a smaller wedding where all guests are staying together in the house. For this family of 7, it was perfect. There is no more perfect pool area reception than this one. Suzie decided on Julie Dreelins Beach Productions photo/raw video package for this wedding. This custom package included 5 hours of photo and 5 hours of raw footage video for a discounted rate.

A Double Wedding-A High End Wedding at Half the Price?

October 17th 2009 Double Wedding

At first the vendors doing this wedding at the Kilmarlic Club near the Outer Banks, NC were worried about logistics. Do the brides walk down the aisle at the same time, do they cut the cake at the same time? The question was asked, are they friends? Yes to all of them! This wedding photographed by Julie Dreelin and Lauren Cowart of Beach Productions ended up working out perfectly, thanks to their planner, Ocean Aisle Events's Julie Hume. She would say yes, the brides did put more pressure on the vendors having more food, more decorating, and more photography, but it did pay off. If Julie Hume can plan this event I would say she can plan anything!

Dressing your Groom

Beach Productions photography suggests giving a grooms friend the job of making sure he is dressed properly and has all of the right clothing, etc. This way the groom doesn't have to worry or show up to the photo shoot with a crooked tie!
