Carova, Seaside Simplicity – on of theTop 10 Secluded Beaches in the US

Lee and Alyson

July 16th 2010

We love Carova, it is past Corolla on the Outer Banks of NC.  The only way to get there is by sand road, which makes it deserted and remote.  The untouched sand, gorgeous greenery and long deserted beaches make me remember why I moved to the Outer Banks.  This couple stayed 10 miles up this road, NOBODY was around.

Carova Beach, North Carolina

This barrier beach covers the upper stretches of the Outer Banks, North Carolina, and is the most undeveloped of an already spartan beach chain. Part of what keeps the region mellow is the lack of paved roads, with Highway 12 stopping north of Corolla. Four-wheel drive is a must, as the only route to these secluded U.S. beaches is a ride on the sand or a primitive system of dirt roads connecting vacation homes in the wooded interior. Drive slowly to see the wild horses (some are descendants of shipwrecked Spanish mustangs) that roam the protected dunes.

Although it doesn't match the above photos, I just had to put in this tid-bit.  The groom wanted a Ken and Barbie look for his cake topper.  Rene Landry from Blooms went for it, using pink sparkles for bathing suits.  This Ken and Barbie cake topper photo made it to her Naughty Florist website, show us more, Rene, we love it!

Picking the right time of DAY for lighting on your wedding

Matt and Rebecca

July 18th 2010-Frisco, NC

These two hit it on the mark with a gorgeous beach experience, perfect timing on the reception and dancing, AND sunset.  We always suggest looking at sunset and planning the ceremony at least 2 hours before that in the summer.  In the spring and fall up to 3 hours beforehand.

To Video or not to Video

Horses, Cow and miles and miles of wheat.  This is where Liz and Ryan grew up.  Liz always had a special place in her heart for the beach, and the whole time both of them went to collage, she always knew she wanted to be married on the beach.  Their ceremony was followed by a sunset dinner on the sound.  The party at home was the week after so Liz decided to get the ceremony videoed, but not just any kind of wedding video, more of a montage of the special moments of the day from afar, a Documentary Film Wedding Video.  With the digital overflow of products and constant fast moving objects thrown at us on the TV set from every direction, this type of Documentary Film stops the chaos for a few moments and pulls you into a part of your life that you do not ever want to forget . . .in slow motion.  They showed highlights of the Documentary Film the week after the event per special rush request to her photography/videography crew with Julie Dreelin, along with blow ups of some of the gorgeous photos from the wedding day as seen below.  The guests ATE IT UP at the reception back home!

Weddings on the Water

Nikki and Tom

May 29th 2010

From the Bride:Tom and I both grew up with a love of the ocean so it only made sense that the most important day in our relationship take place on the water.  Planning a wedding in this setting almost takes care of itself.  With the ocean as your backdrop, not much else is needed!  I would call our theme Beach Chic. Less was definitely more in our case. It was simple, natural and beautiful.
