Married in a Lightning Storm

September 29th, 2010

Brenda and Micheal

Aug 22th 2010

A Mid August Day in the summer what better way for everybody to get to know each other than in a wind and lightning storm?  The sky threatened all day from every angle, but it ended up perfectly dry.  With the pipes player in the background to the butterfly sendoff during the ceremony in remembrance of his sister, this wedding was well thought out.  Brenda has waited a long time to get married and wanted to do it right.  After gallivanting around at the beach, we all headed back up to a massive house that she rented.   Dangling from above at sunset were a ton of lights serving as a ceiling to dinner and toasts below.  We ended up with some very unique photographs and video (our entire team worked this one-so more to come with video)!  Drinking wine, laughing and dancing on an ocean front deck at dusk in an wind and lightning storm is “surreal” says Brenda to me at the end of the night. The oceanfront dancing deck is a must, ladies looking for rentals while reading this take note.  Nobody seemed to notice what was going on all around them, they were having so much fun – check out the lightning photo by our staff Lauren Cowart below-I absolutely loved shooting it so hopefully the beautiful and carefree feel of their evening comes across.

Seashells, Sparklers and Sunsets

There is something so utterly peaceful and romantic about this wedding that Lauren Cowart photographed a few weeks ago.  When you see the tiny timeless details that went into the day, you see that it’s also a perfect representation of the gorgeous couple.  What I love the most about this pretty wedding is that the style is such a mismatch of people, love . . .sunset and color.  An understated design paired with handmade touches from seashells with petals that the flower girl threw at the altar to the tiny seashell toss into the ocean at the end to signify loved ones lost.  The totally approachable decor was completely by the do-it-yourself bride.  Bottom line?  It’s love on the beach.-Julie

We are beyond giddy for this pretty, pretty North Carolina wedding. It is residing in a happy place of sun, sand and 4X4′s.  Not to mention the fact that the bride planned everything from out of town; no easy feat as most of us can attest to.

And so begins fun in the sun-Props, props and more props – Polka Dots were the main theme throughout with dark blue and apple green as the wedding colors.  Everything was these colors all of the way from the streamers to the huge flowers decoration for the wedding cake. Using paper flowers saved on the cost with the florist and ended being a part of the theme, they turned out so cute and creative looking.  Liz had recently lost her father and wanted to include him in the big day so she put a photo of him on her bouquet to walk down the aisle with her.  After the wedding the whole wedding party took a party bus to the beach for some fun photos before heading to the reception in Ocean Hill, Corolla.
