Everything but the mainstream-A New Years Wedding

Rebecca and Zack choose to married on New Years Eve at sunset and have their party last through the evening.  From the groom and groomsmen wearing converse sneakers to the trash the dress special gift Rebecca made for her future husband, this rocker couple did not go by the books - and their event turned out incredible! Their photographer Julie Dreelin suggested that they do most of their photographs beforehand, so they had a special meeting, then the bridal party came out to entertain them and photographer Julie Dreelin with more group and candid photographs while sipping on champagne.  Thank goodness they did because they got off to a late start and the sun set right as they were saying their vows.  This breathtaking wedding venue Abilena Mansion right on the sound in New Bern, NC has attracted quite a response from traveling brides.  This bride was from hours south but chose this location because it is centrally located and right on the sound.

The Dream House-Carova, NC

October 23rd, 2009 - Susie and Joe

We love this house!  It is in the 4X4 area of the island which means no roads, you drive on the sand to go to this location.  There is always someone who gets stuck in the sand which adds to the excitement, so make sure to tell your guests!   It's a great location for a smaller wedding where all guests are staying together in the house.  For this family of 7, it was perfect.  There is no more perfect pool area reception than this one.  Suzie decided on Julie Dreelins Beach Productions photo/raw video package for this wedding.  This custom package included 5 hours of photo and 5 hours of raw footage video for a discounted rate.

Jessica and Ben- a do it yourself fashionista couple

This wedding took place in Duck, NC at one of our favorite wedding houses, the Saltaire House - although it is not on the ocean, the house is located perfectly between the ocean and the sound so that you can get both types of shots. At this wedding, the photographer, Julie Dreelin, took the bride and groom across the street from the house for some beautiful sunset shots before coming back to party.

Jessica knows style!  Even during her toast her maid of honor said she thought Jennifer would marry a fashion model from tv.  She chose Ben, a fashionable surfer instead, and what a couple they make!  Jennifer went for the new style of "net"  for her veil and accessorized her own boquet with a beaded belt she found- we loved it!  This bride and groom belong in a fashion mag, wouldn't you say?

Evelyn and Robert’s Whalehead/Currituck Club Wedding Oct 2nd

Date: October 6th, 2009 | Category: Do-it-Yourself, Featured Weddings, Get Inspired, The Best Locations

This out of town bride took "do it yourself" to the extreme.  She made her own invitations, and all paper products as well as decorated her entire reception in just a matter of a couple of hours.  The lighting looked gorgeous(see bottom photo).

Date: June 23rd, 2009 | Category: Featured Weddings, Outer Banks, The Cutest Little Things

The Arizona couple gets married on the beach! This fun couple said we love jumping shots, we do too Emily and Eric! Emily and Eric did a ton of decorating on their own at their event as well as using one of our favorite coordinators on the beach, Nanette of A Proper Setting located in Kill Devil Hills, NC. Our favorite were the sunset colored flowers that they used throughout their theme. Congratulations!

Lindsay Scot’s Wedding! 5/30/09

Date: June 8th, 2009 | Category: Classic Bride, Fashion, Featured Weddings

Home is where the heart is!

And when it was time for our bride Lindsay to get married, she chose to come home again. This Manteo girl and her man Scot were wed on May 30th in Nags Head.

The two fell in love while both working in Texas for Bank of America.

Under a tent on the yard of the scenic First Colony Inn, Lindsay and Scott's reception featured music by The Crowd, with a slew of OBX local guests and Texans coming together to dance the night away in an upbeat celebration!

Mandy and Jim Wade April 25th 2009

Date: May 16th, 2009 | Category: Featured Weddings, The Best Locations

We love all of our weddings at the Hilton Garden Inn in Kitty Hawk, one of our favorite event locations. Wedding photographs always turn out fabulously there. This wedding had an extra kick with visits from Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy. Not only did they dress up and sing but the entire guest list got up and sung to the bride and groom as well. I had never seen anything like it! What a blast, and the bride (who had no idea this was going to happen) was just beside herself with joy. What a beautiful family for making the day so special. This wedding was so unique and different that we will be submitting it to the Knot Magazine.
