WINNER OF BEST OF THE BEST KNOT WEDDING VIDEOGRAPHER 2011

Hi, I'm Mike,  I am from up north and now live on the Currituck Mainland. I moved to the area for work opportunity and to be close to the beach.  I have not been to the beach yet this summer when writing this and it's now September, but I have taken up triathlons and lost a small person. I'm obsessed and have so much energy from them that it all comes out through my love of talking. I come from over 20 years of broadcast television background. Film producers don't understand how us broadcast people can tell a story on the fly with nothing scripted..>which is what your wedding day is, non-scripted.

After moving to the Outer Banks with my own thriving business in the idea of competing with Julie for wedding work, I've now decided to work with her as her main videographer. She is just too good talking and working with the brides and I'm just too good with the camera and with this editing thing. OK, I really am her video Bitch. She depends on me for all video equipment and new technologies since I am a boy and I depend on her to explain to me what contemporary video our modern and fashionable brides are looking for.  She has taught me to take a step back at weddings and be a fly on the wall documentarian. I provide the best in high-def video equipment, mics and lighting in the industry, even offering Blue-Ray, and she drives me crazy asking for old looking grainy video clips that are short and sweet. She has shortened our normal final videos in half, which takes twice as much work for me to do. Melding her ideas into my high quality behind the camera work has brought us into some amazing modern film looks and MTV video style. She jokingly works me to death. Every time I keep saying we are the best she keeps pushing me harder saying there is something better.

What is your favorite thing to shoot? Bears
How do you approach a shoot? Elegance and Style, Documentary style, candid, unobtrusive.
What do you love so much about videography? Telling a story with my moving pictures.
Comments about lighting your video? Lights should always be used, Always! but in controlled situations, documentary situations then we must use the natural lights that the envorment gives us.
What do you mean when you say you edit like mtv? Treated cool video.
What is a highlight video and how do i get one? Exactly what it means, highlights of your day the most beautiful video taken and then created and treated set to music, a shorter story.
What is film look?  Does it take extra time to do? Film is beautiful, however none of us shoots on film anymore which is why we all want it...it's vintage and  it takes a long time to create  the effect.
