Beachy Bright-Getting Married Mid Day in Summer

July 30th, 2010

Beachy Bright-Getting Married on a Sunny Day on the Beach can have its positives with timing, but make sure you are prepared with water and shade for every guest if it gets too hot.  It worked out fantastic for this bride and groom because they had a very short wedding ceremony of 5-10 minutes.  Then they splashed and put their feet in the water . . . .View the Beach at the same location and same time of year to get an idea of what it will look like, don’t assume it will be deserted.  It’s best to ask your vendors where a less used beach is for your private ceremony like these two.

From the couple:

Craig and I met in college and started dating on a spring break trip to Nags Head, NC. We thought Nags Head would be a wonderful place to share our wedding celebration with all the friends and family we cared about. Music was really important to us and I am a Motown girl at heart so had no desire to hear the YMCA at the wedding. Craig and I booked our friends’ band, The Moving Co., the day we announced our engagement. They are a wonderful Soul-Funk-Hip/Hop band that is perfect for dancing with original and cover tunes inspired by Bill Withers, The Band and Tribe Called Quest. Craig even jumped on trumpet for a song with the band. Craig’s brother is an upright and electric bass player and played the entrance music to the ceremony. After we were married, we left the ceremony to Stevie Wonder’s “Signed, Sealed, Delivered” on iPod. There was a technical issue with the iPod connection to the amp and the song was cutting in and out. While we were waiting for the music to get louder, all of our guests chimed in singing and shouting all the lyrics to the song! It was one of my favorite moments of the day. My mom is deceased so we remembered her at the wedding by using her favorite flower, hydrangeas, for all the bouquets adding a piece of her jewelry to mine. We skipped the cake and opted for a create your own ice cream sunday bar. Doing as much we could ourselves, I made all the edible favors to help launch my business, Sweet Lydia’s: Marshmallows For All Occasions, and got a few orders as a result. There really is nothing like sharing  a private concert with all the people you care about and it made our wedding a perfect day of celebration.
