What to Wear for Your Beach Portraits

March 23rd, 2015

Days leading up to family beach portraits I always am asked, “What should we wear?” Today I am going to give you lots of great suggests when it comes to your best look when getting your photo shot by the ocean.

First and foremost, I always suggest wearing colors that contrast with the golden sand. Think about wearing sea glass colors of blues, greens, rich browns, and creams paired with khakis. We’ve always loved the idea of having families wear varying shades of blue tops with khaki bottoms!

It’s important to always remember to not let deciding the “perfect” color to cause you stress. Black is a great color choice that pops beautifully in photographs!  On the opposite end, should you fancy lighter shades of colors always choose cream. White is too stark during the summer, and shows off sunburn. Cream is  soft, beautiful and the perfect touch for your beach portrait session. 2015-03-22_0002

Last but not least, never hesitate to add personality to your photos! Whether you decide to dress by a certain color palette or allow everyone to free-style their outfit, remember the reason you’re getting together to take this photo: to capture memories on your Outer Banks vacation.

Outer Banks Lifeguards

March 9th, 2015

Up with the sun – lifeguards make a big impact on new and experienced beach-goers alike. We’re not sure if it’s the countless hours they spend under the scorching sun or the fact they serve to protect; one thing’s for certain, there are countless reasons we have so much respect for these guys and gals. This ultra-fun shoot shows off the light-hearted side of these lifesavers, and we are thrilled to share a few of our favorite photos!

2015 Couture by the Shore by Outer Banks Relief Foundation

February 23rd, 2015

A Spring fashion event that has locals and vacationers joining together, the Outer Banks Relief Foundation’s Couture by the Shore is a can’t miss event on the island. This is such a wonderful charity, and I am completely honored to capture this year’s event, themed “Raising Spirits.” Not only are the ladies pictured below my dear friends, but also the founding ladies of the Outer Banks Relief Foundation. Along with John Gilliam, these individuals are the heart behind this charity and Couture by the Shore. We can’t wait to share the event’s festivities occurring this May!
